4:58am: Hey Everybody!
I never thought I would see the day when this livejournal got unsuspended. I would like to thank Alise of LJ-abuse for being thoughtful, careful, and understanding. She was good enough to review what happened and concluded this journal's suspension should be reversed. But, since I've already started to re-establish myself as wholesomedick, I'm going to leave this journal here mostly for historical reasons. There's over a year of my life "represented" here, and I'm glad that I have the opportunity to keep it all up here now. Those of you who wish to keep up with me should add my "new" journal, wholesomedick to your friend's list. Vote Kerry... err... I mean... :`-( Oww. 2:11am: Feeling it in your bones
In the Z Media Institute 2000 lecture series Michael Albert gave a lecture on radical theory. At one point he mentions Karl Marx's theory that science and capitalism are things that tend to push societies forward. I had known for awhile that this was part of Marx's theory, but had never really believed it. Albert said he felt the same way until he considered Egypt, which you could call a theocratic society. While Egyptians had some ideas about technology they definately weren't scientific and definately didn't have a free market economy. If you look at the history of Egypt, for 3000 years, it was just Egypt. Egypt was basically a stagnant society/culture for 3000 years. How much has America changed in the last 100 years (1/30th of Egypt's existence) with science and capitalism being part of our culture? The point of this entry isn't to talk about political theory or Egyptology, but it is to talk about realization. For me, contrasting Egypt with America using Marx's theory was a profound realization. Today, I had a similarly profound realization about codependency. One of the necessary behaviors of codependents is that while ostensibly they're trying to fix people around them its actually necessary for codependents to keep the people around them sick -- otherwise they wouldn't be necessary anymore. I was talking to a friend of mine about my goals this semester, my problems achiving them, and my plans too. I explained to her my ideas about what I thought my problems were. She told me that all of the work I've put toward achiving my goals was worthless, because the work necessary to get to them didn't "come naturally" to me. She told me that I should just accept this and give up. I was really very hurt by this. I would expect some bitchy feminists reading my LJ to say something like that. But, not friends that I've know for half a decade. Friends should support and encourage you. But, friends trying to keep you sick and telling you that very reasonable goals (It's not like I said I was going to announce my canidancy for president and kill myself if I didn't win) things you really want in life and deeply feel is what you should be doing you should just give up... That really is very sad, and is the pathology of codependency. I had never really felt that part of it before, but tonight I could feel it in my bones. My friend thought that to continue being my friend she had to hurt me. I have homework to do.. :)

In other news, someone one the loveline forum perfectly summed up why voting for any third party is a bad idea. Me? Im voting for Badnarik (libertarian party). Yeah hes a little bit crazy (like all 3rd party guys) but at least hes doing what he thinks is right, NOT what he thinks will get him votes. If you're running for anything, you do what gets you votes. You get power in the United States by being in office, not but being so obscure that no one cares about you. Don't get behind people who don't want to win. BTW - I have six more g-mail invites if anyone wants them.

There's an artist, Nathalia Edenmont, who kills cats, mice, doves, rabbits, and other animals, mutilates their bodies, and then takes their photographs. She's on exhibit, among other places, at the Wetterling Gallery in Sweden. She has taken the top halves of five white mice and made them into finger puppets. She beat a cat to death with a stick.

11:38am: What Would Bill Clinton Do?
People who are mentally healthy, whether they realize it or not, surround themselves with things and people that help them and support them -- these things keep them healthy. I thought in the beginning that Llama and Studio Girl would make great roommates -- and things certainlly could be worse. But, they definately don't help me keep my head together. In the groups of people I know, the ones in them who have their shit together are few and far between. I'm not angry with them for not having their shit together, but I'm angry with them for having a herd mentality that keeps people from getting their shit together. I'm also disappointed with myself for not getting juiced in to groups and people who are better for me.

11:17pm: KCTS up, KCTS down, KCTS up, KCTS down again
Our friends at Denver's free radio station, KCTS 93.9 FM (Cactus Radio), made it through the weekend at least. Went up Thursday night and broadcast through tonight (Tues) at 9pm. Jon Sprauge Colorado's favorite FCC enforcement agent, again, visited KCTS at their newly relocated broadcast location (the 2nd in the last month) of Denver Free Radio around 9pm and delivered the usual speech and warning letter. I wouldn't blame them if they give up, but I have a feeling they're not ready to anytime soon.

According to broadcast network reports, the actor lapsed into a coma after going into cardiac arrest at his home in New York. Reeve had been treated for a pressure wound related to his paralysis. That wound became severely infected over the past week and the infection spread throughout his body. The "Superman" actor became an activist for spinal cord research following his horse riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed. Reeve spoke to Congress, urging better insurance protection for those with severe injuries and spoke out for stem cell research. He continued acting and directing, even though he was wheelchair-bound and dependent on a respirator. Until the very end Reeve held out hope that one day he would walk again. He was a spokesman for pioneering therapies and was able to regain movement in one of his fingers. He also regained sensation in some areas of his body. He also gave a moving speech at the 1996 Oscars, urging Hollywood to make films on important social issues.
